St Georges Day

Started by: PeterP (11334)

It's St Georges day today and I wonder how many people will celebrate it. Some people say he was not English and others will argue the Red and White flag of England should be changed All the other countries Ireland Scotland and Wales have a holiday for their patron saint but not England. There is a mention of today about a third of the way through the Daily Mail on line pages. No mention in the Daily Express and Daily Mirror

I have never known St George’s day to be celebrated in a big way at any time during my lifetime and it has never meant anything to me.

Just as St Patrick was not Irish or St Andrew was not Scottish.
I am wearing my Red Rose and will be attending an Afternoon Tea with some friends to celebrate.
The flag is actually the Cross of St George and pre dates the adoption of it as the English flag by hundreds of years.

“This is England and it reminds people passing who are down to the Mosque”

Why would anyone visiting a mosque need a reminder that this is England Tom?

Ask yourself why you feel the need to make the statement and it will help you understand what ‘gaslighting’ is.

Stop stalking me Todger!

That’s what you say to me isn’t it?

And BTW…… in your desperation to make the usual cynical sarcastic and ignorant comments you appear to have overlooked the fact I didn’t bring the subject up and furthermore it’s certainly not me getting upset by Muslims and mosques

Peter as far as I can tell, Its an unpaid occupation/pastime , I'm not sure whether its a legal activity or even if i need some kind of accreditation, I'm pretty sure there'll be health n safety issue with it being 'gas' powered but, If its covered by the gassafe regulations, Its only deemed , To be unlawful to work as a gas lighter operator as part of a business, I only do it for fun so I think I'm clear on that one,
Perhaps some of the more academic members would kindly explain the nature of gas lighting , I see Rats Delta has appeared and I'm pretty sure he could explain once I free him from the cell block ignore but, He's got another 5 years to go before parole comes up,

Peter, I’d say Tom lives more Hawkley Hall or Marus Bridge than Poolstock. So I would!
It’s Pemberton anyway. Poolstock is in Wigan. So it is!

Hawley Hall is an estate and i don't live on it, Marus Bridge is a bridge on Warrington road and Pemberton is a village several miles away, I would say, Goose green is the area of Wigan that I live in now, Its a leafy suburbia nestling in a primrose treed avenue of North wigan with, pleasant walking area's ,close to the motorway network and. easy access to retail parks for food and leisure shopping, Large nature parks are a stride away with mere's , flashes and canals to enjoy fishing, boating and bird watching, these wet areas attract bird fanciers from all over the world and geese from as far as Canada regularly fly in to visit us,
house prices are now escalating to just below the 6 zero range,

No Tom. Tha’s bloody lost mon!
You live South of Wigan, not North. Marus Bridge is what the area is known as. Just out of, but very close to, both Hawkley Hall and Worsley Mesnes. Historically in Pemberton.
